Dead Wood  - At least a half-truth.  A loose term.  Its too easy to call something dead.  It would be unusual to find a mass of wood in a forest that does not contain some form of living cells, basically speaking.  Biomass.  Maybe people should know what a symplast is.  See "symplastless".  Remember - symplastless branches and trees in urban areas can be a high risk of hazard.   Symplastless branches are in the final stages of being shed - with the help of the succession of microorganisms.
