Sink
- Source is a term meaning the position of origin of a substance. Sink is the
position where the substance finally is used or incorporated and cannot move
further. A nurse log is the source for elements and nutrients for the
soil. However the elements were part of the sink when the tree maintained
a symplast.
Source is a common term in plant physiology that indicates
where a substance originates. Sink is a term that indicates where a
substance goes, and is not transported to another location.
