Vessels - Plugging  - Tyloses are structures produced by the living axial parenchyma that plug the vessels.  Once formed the tyloses stay in place. There is at least 7 different ways that vessels become plugged in trees - tyloses is one of them.  (See  "Plugging in Wall 1”)
